Pelvic Organ Prolapse
What symptoms might I feel if I have developed Pelvic Organ Prolapse?
There are variable symptoms that can indicate that a woman may have developed pelvic organ prolapse, some of which include:

  • A sensation of ‘heaviness’
  • A sensation of a 'vaginal bulge' or something that is blocking the vaginal entrance.
  • Recurrent urinary tract infections
  • Difficulty emptying your bowel
  • Difficulty inserting tampons
It is important to realise that symptoms of prolapse often do not present as pain, and may or may not be bothersome. Often symptoms can appear more evident during certain activities such as high impact exercise, excessive periods standing on your feet or following a bowel motion. Symptoms may also feel better in the morning but may worsen later in the day.
